I want this website to be positive, but I don’t think apps are a necessary part of life, man.
99% of all apps (I’ve made up this figure) are just websites that run independently on your phone so that it’s harder to leave them. Instagram is a great example, I have been trying to take a break from reels and stuff and so I end up using the web version to check in every so often. It’s literally the same! The only difference is I don’t have an urge to load it up every second. So there’s one app that makes life worse.
Another thing that is shite about apps is that they are treated as prescriptions and need to be officially downloaded from the app store. … I can’t think of any examples where I’ve needed to use software on my phone that isn’t on the app store, but still! The concept makes me angry.
Here’s what’s worst about apps… there are so many of them. There are 30 different parking apps that one must have to navigate the country. There are 10 different takeaway apps that you must download if you want to order from… There are who knows how many social media apps that you must give up your storage space for to use properly… There are more ticket seller apps than people on this planet! And some of these ticket sellers don’t allow you to view YOUR tickets that you paid for without downloading the fucking app. Why? Because they want to shove more balls down your face!
Ok, so there are more important issues that need resolving before this app crisis, so why the big fuss?
Because the abundance of apps is a great cause for our impartiality and indignance! We are made not to shout and not to make a fuss about anything, and we are fed apps to keep us munching in the meantime. We are given clutter that makes us frustrated, and media that makes us angry because that’s what keeps us aboard.
I’m not paranoid or a conspiracy theorist, I’m just a person that gets tired of the noise sometimes.
