Collecting things

I think it’s a good idea to collect things.

We all have collections; clothes, photos, apps, games, devices, but I’m talking about collecting, the act of keeping things that serve no utility like stickers, posters, comics, postcards, buttons, badges, lamps, literally anything. Even records count in my opinion, because today they serve no purpose at all. And that, to me, is why I collect them.

Now that records are like £1000 each and are really impractical, they have become the perfect item to collect. You need to save up and really think about the ones you want. I’m not really sure if they’re good for the environment or not, but surely data centres aren’t much healthier either. Anyway, it’s not about the medium of vinyl, it’s about having your own unique collection.

I have always admired Tom for his collections. Here are some of the things he collects:

  • Memories
  • Money
  • Minidiscs
  • Copper
  • Test tubes
  • Coins
  • Hockey stick handle(s)
  • Umbrella handle(s)
